Product knowledge: How are cranberries actually harvested? The normal, dry harvesting of cranberries is very laborious and is therefore only used for the small part of the fruit that is consumed fresh. For cranberries that are processed into juice or dried fruit, the harvesting is done with the help of water. The fields are flooded and machines create movement in the water so that the berries detach from the plant. Since the berries have air chambers that allow them to float on the water surface, they can be easily skimmed off.
