Vanilla can be labeled as Bourbon vanilla if it originates from Madagascar, La Réunion (formerly Île Bourbon), or other islands in the Indian Ocean. Its botanical name is Vanilla planifolia. Ceylon cinnamon is highly aromatic and has a delicate sweet taste. It is less spicy than Cassia cinnamon. The fine, light brown powder is excellent for baking, not only during the Christmas season, but also for refining desserts such as rice pudding and baked apples, as well as hearty dishes such as lamb and poultry dishes. It is an ingredient in many spice mixtures, such as curry. Ceylon cinnamon is obtained by peeling the tender shoots of the Ceylon cinnamon tree (Cinnamomum verum) and mainly comes from Sri Lanka or Madagascar. European walnut kernels are a flavourful world star! They have a mild, nutty taste with a refined, slightly bitter and slightly sweet flavour. The pieces are crunchy, golden yellow and vary in size. They are rich in fibre. The kernels are perfect as an ingredient for baking and cooking, as an addition to salads and muesli or as a decoration for pastries and desserts, as well as a crunchy snack.
The Ceylon cinnamon sticks are 8 to 12 cm long and have a noble and pleasantly sweet taste. Ceylon cinnamon is less spicy and contains less coumarin than Cassia cinnamon. Cinnamon in whole sticks or broken pieces is a popular addition to sauces, compotes, milk and fruit soups, game ragouts, punch, mulled wine and rum pot. Ceylon cinnamon is obtained by peeling the tender shoots of the Ceylon cinnamon tree (Cinnamomum verum) and can therefore be easily recognized by its thin layers. They are available from Bolivia, Brazil and Peru. An ideal choice for nibbling or for use in your own mixes.
